4th of July

We had a super fun 4th of July weekend. Dave fixed the boat and didn't have to work on the 3rd, so we decided to take the boat out and see how crazy busy Utah Lake would be. We left around noon, when we got to the lake I thought this isn't too bad, looks like when we have been out before, maybe a little busier, but not bad. We got the boat in, waited for grandpa to find a parking spot and then we were off. We drove out into the lake a bit, where there were lots of boats and wakes everywhere, which made me think this is going to be a trip. We headed out a little further and found a spot in the middle, with less waves, to stop and eat our lunch and to swim a little. It was pretty hot and Abigail was dying to jump in, so we let her swim for a bit.

After lunch and a little swimming, we got the tube out and all took a turn, with the exception of Jaxon, he isn't loving life on the water, he likes to go out but doesn't join in on the water fun - he only wants to fish. After being out for a bit, we started noticing boats disappearing. By 3pm it felt like we were the only boat out there.

The kids had a blast. Abigail our little fish, was out swimming around the boat, jumping from the front of the boat and was ready to try skiing. Colton is a little more reserved, but after a bit he just wanted to sit and float in the tube, then after a little heckeling he snuck into the water for 30 seconds and jumped out, then he decided it wasn't so bad, so he joined in on the fun, swimming with Abi and dad.

By the end of the day they couldn't get in enough swimming, every time we stopped they were asking to swim again. It was so calm out I even decided to try it out (I swore I would never get in Utah Lake - it just doesn't compare to Flaming Gorge, the only plus is it is warm), so for the first time, I skied Utah Lake and I am alive to tell about it. I was happy I did and will probably do it again.
We got off the lake around 7pm, and decided to stop by the Mexican place for dinner. After dinner we were all a little tired so we called it a day and turned in.

For the 4th we hung out at the house for the morning then that evening we met the Arichbald's and Steve & Tina's family in Provo for dinner and fireworks. The kids loved running and having free time with no schedual to keep up with and the moms, well we loved the open space and no scheduals to meet and running around to do. We played frisbee, snaps, ate, ran races, had glow sticks, ate some more and enjoyed the fireworks. It was pretty laid back and enjoyable. The fireworks were good, but they weren't the highlight. The best was just being with friends and family celebrating our freedom.
